Breitling, manufacturer of wristwatches in the world more beautiful men, was formed in 1884 by Leon Breitling, who founded the company in the tender age of 24 in Switzerland. Leon soon developed a reputation for producing technically excellent watches and, as his company expanded, the factory was moved to Grenchen and he began specializing in chronographs.
The First World War announced the first true arrival of the aircraft, especially as a fighting machine. That aviation really took off, sorry for the pun, Breitling turned their attention to the aviation Timekeeping, and it proved to be a good initiative. During the Second World War, they broke new ground again, introducing the famous "Chronomat" watch that was the first in the world to be equipped with a circular slide rule to aid navigation. With its reputation as an aviator Premium watch, Breitling has quickly become the de facto choice of pilots in the world whole. This reputation was further cemented when the Airline Owners and Pilots Association called the Chronomat its official watch. The ultimate success Breitling came in 1962 when astronaut Scott Carpenter wore one of their watches in space – this show has become known as "Cosmonaut" and it is a very highly sought after timepiece today.
The 1970s saw the fortunes Breitling DIP much as cheaper, more accurate quartz watches took the world by storm. They struggled against a rising tide of competition, especially from Japan and the Far East with brands such as Seiko to take much of their business. This has been turned back in the early 1980s, however, by Ernest Schneider who has succeeded to promote the brand with its background of aviation and to the designs relatively bulky actually become a very active research. Mechanical watches such as Breitling wristwatches, soon returned to fashion. In the late 1980s, the wristwatch Breitling, with its housing and deliberately large telescope was a recognizable status symbol all over the world, and was soon copied by many competitors.
Breitling wristwatches remain the first choice of most of today's commercial and professional aviators and new models such as emergency Breitling sending a distress signal by radio if the wearer is lost, continue to keep the brand at the forefront of technology as well as style.
