6. Keep your tires properly inflated. It is estimated that up to 80 percent of car tires are under-inflated, which can increase fuel consumption and hence emissions of up to 5 per cent, and increased wear normal.
7. Why not rent a car on a pay-as-you-drive system, rather than buying one?
8. Another idea is to share. You can ask your employer to do something to encourage a reduction in car use, such as showers for cyclists to use or run minibuses from local stations.
9. Driving with the windows closed. This reduces drag, which increases efficiency your fuel consumption and reduce your emissions. Drag can also be mitigated by removing heavy items and roof racks of the vehicle when you do not need to carry.
10. Turn off the engine if you are going to be stationary for more than two minutes. Waiting this long consume more fuel than it takes to restart the engine.
11. Change your driving style. Change speed to one smaller engine can reduce fuel consumption up to 15 percent.
